Daniel “Dan” Griffith, 60, a 24 year East Wenatchee resident, passed away at his home on September 14, 2017.
He was born on July 8, 1957 at Fort Bragg, California to Kenneth “Ken” and Colleen Griffith. As a young child, their family made a number of moves with his father’s jobs before they settled in Winlock, Washington. He attended Winlock Junior High and High School. He grew up working on vehicles with his brothers, became a self taught mechanic and fabricator. He graduated high school and got a job washing semi trucks and heavy equipment at City Transfer. This turned into a full time Mechanic job from 1976 to 1988. He also attended technical schools for welding and his mechanics certification. In 1988, he transitioned to Smith’s Tractor Company, in Fife. Later, he transferred to Seco Machinery in Yakima, where he became the Shop Foreman. He worked through the transition to Smith Tractors and Pape Tractors. In 1992, he transferred to the Wenatchee Pape facility. He worked as Foreman and Heavy Equipment Mechanic for 22 years until ill health forced him to retire early.
Dan continued to work independently as a Mechanic, Welder and Fabricator. He worked on virtually anything mechanical. He was a Master Fabricator and really enjoyed building things in his shop. He loved riding his motorcycles and was particularly fond of his numerous long trips on his Harleys to either Sturgis or California. An avid fisherman, he was content to spend entire weekends fishing.
He is survived by two children, Daniel K. “Danny” Griffith, Rock Island and Sara Griffith, Spokane; his father, Kenneth “Ken” Griffith, Tri Cities, WA; the mother of his children, Lana Monesmith, Rock Island; four brothers and two sisters, Mike Griffith, Jack Griffith, George Griffith, Norma Griffith, Charlie Griffith and Kathy Oberere, and his grandson, Damon “Chico” Griffith. He was preceded in death by his mother, Colleen Griffith.
