Obituary for Myrna Vee Gott

Myrna Vee “MeMe” Gott
October 29, 1937 - February 12, 2018

Myrna “MeMe” Gott, 80, a lifelong Wenatchee Valley resident, passed away at her home in Wenatchee on Monday night, February 12, 2018, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on October 29, 1937 in Chelan, the daughter of the late Vern and Henrietta “Italy” (Howard) Ogle. She was raised in Wenatchee and attended Columbia Elementary, Pioneer Junior High and Wenatchee High School. She graduated with the class of 1955. She went to work as a School Bus Driver for the Wenatchee School District and to supplement her income also worked as a bartender at night. She met the love of her life, Phillip Gott, and they were married in Wenatchee on May 4, 1969. Together they operated her husband’s family orchards as well as their regular jobs. Myrna worked as a Semi Truck Driver for Simplot for a couple of seasons before becoming a charter bus driver for Empire Lines. She continued working for the Greyhound Franchised Agency in Wenatchee until retiring in the mid 1980’s. She continued working with her family, taking care of the orchard properties until the early 2000’s.

On July 25, 1999, she was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Gott. She has since continued to make her home in Wenatchee.

Together, Myrna and Phillip had enjoyed travelling, especially to visit family members in the New England and Missouri areas. As a widow, Myrna purchased a motor home and drove it south through California and Arizona to visit friends. She was a Square Dancer and member of the Pinochle Club. She collected Tea Pots, Jim Beam Bottles and Hats. On the ranch, she had a pet donkey known as “Jenny”. Jenny entertained the entire family and all the neighbors.

She is survived by three children, Daniel (Cindy) Stacy, Paula Dure Eichler and Perry (Judy) DeWayne, all of Wenatchee; one brother, Jim (Janet) Welch of Norco, CA; seven grandchildren: Aaron Roth, Mike Roth, Evan Eichler, all of Wenatchee, Phillip Gott, Post Falls, ID, David Carter, Seattle, Rebecca Mbwilo, Everett, WA and Emily Roth, Madrid, Spain; six great-grandchildren: Shawna Roth, Hayden Roth and Kylie Roth all of Wenatchee, Riley Eichler, Wisconsin, Esta Mbwilo and Eva “Binti” Mbwilo, both of Everett, WA and one great-great-grandchild, Kaiden Inabnit, Wenatchee. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Arrangements are in the care of Heritage Memorial Chapel, East Wenatchee. You are invited to view her tribute online at www.HeritageMemorialChapel.com and leave a memory.
